Serious question

I have a bottle of Crown Royal that was given to me in the early 90s from a friend whose father had passed away and was a lover of crown. When I opened the box and started to remove the purple bag I was shocked to see an old fashion paper strip tax stamp over the cap dated May 1969. I immediately wrapped it up and put it in my gun safe because that is my birth month and year.

Should I just open it and enjoy it or should I pass it on to my son who is also a lover of crown
