Alcohol leaves a man with a loose tongue (I don’t see it as the truth).
Sometimes, family gatherings are filled with fake laughs, pretentious laughter, love and happiness. It can last in pretense and everyone leaves in peace and other times the curtain opens and the truth is revealed.
This was the case during our last family brunch. We agreed to meet at my grandma’s for a celebratory lunch after her birthday thanksgiving. Since my mom is always strict on not having alcohol during family gatherings, I decided to buy a whisky chivas regal 12 for my uncles.
That should keep them in a good mood and also help put me in their good books for the rest of the day if you don’t want to be on their bad side. My uncle bought a solar kettle for grandma and kept bragging about how it came from Alibaba.
These are the things that always get everyone riled up, and they start trying to prove a point on how extreme they can go for their mom more than others. Thankfully everyone was still calm and just ignored him. Until my other uncle who happens to be the last born drops a side comment (you mean your husband’s wife bought it for you). Just when I thought the evening was going well.
My uncle gets angry, turns to him and asks did you say something? He says no…then goes ahead to ask “where’s your husband oh I mean your wife?”. That’s when the chaos started. Grandma blamed me for it saying the alcohol made my uncle lose control of his mouth.
Guess I won’t be doing any favors again.
