Spiced rum left for a year, good still?

Not sure if this is the best sub to post in, I spiced some rum last year in glass bottles. I added cinnamon sticks, cloves and orange slices. I did not get a chance to complete the gift sets so I did not give them out. Fast forward to this year I think “Well hey! These should be SPICED by now!” But on further inspection (the great Google) it looks like it might make it bitter to infuse for so long? Is the rum wrecked? Can it be saved? I was planning on making some candied cranberries and letting it sit a couple weeks more, but if it’s ruined or bitter could I cut it with regular rum and it be ok?

I personally despise rum, I wouldn’t know a bad one from a good one. Please don’t crucify me! Lol
