Public Service Announcement (For Heavy Drinkers)
I had an epiphany the while back that helped me, and I hope it can help at least one more person by reading this. Alcohol is a serious drug and the addiction has two legs, psychological and physical — psychological addiction is the first thing that happens, followed by physical. With this mind, no matter whether you’re addicted to alcohol or another drug, don’t blame the drug or try to reason with yourself that your addiction could be something worse or you could be doing it even more. You must admit that you’re addicted and the easiest thing you can do is try to transfer your addiction gradually (or suddenly if medically feasible) to something more positive (AT LEAST SOMETHING DIFFERENT). Even splitting up usage with other substances/activities could be okay, considering you can do long-term psychological damage binging on one thing. Being stuck in the cycle of addiction is non-stop, and can come from so many different reasons/pathology. Please try to shake things up and talk to someone, at the very least. We are here for you. Love you!
Sorry for the rant, but I want to help anybody I can and never hesitate to DM. I’m not an alcoholic, but am an addict and have had most of my family ruined by alcoholism.
