Need advice on not going overboard with liquor

I used to be a pretty heavy drinker but over the last year I’ve significantly cut back but I still casually drink, buy a pint for special occasions, and get wasted at parties I just have a problem with moderation when it comes to big bottles of liquor.

My issues always been: Take 2 shots feel like you could go for 4, go from 4 to 5-6, then I’m blacked out after 12 and I usually don’t stop there. I just have trouble stopping after I start—which isn’t a problem with the pint or the few beers I usually drink.

A friend gifted me a 1.5L bottle of vodka and I just don’t want to go overboard. The significant cut back on how much I drink was all me so I never really learned any ways on how to moderate myself.

What are some things I can do that’ll prevent my drunk alter ego from making the bottle disappear 😂 E.g. Pouring a few shots in a water bottle, putting the rest in a key safe, and hiding the key until I get an alarm the next day with its location—something random like that

(Just for a disclaimer: Any comments about sobriety or anything along those lines will fr go nowhere, sometimes I feel like people say that stuff with the idea in mind that past problems = I have to be sober and can’t enjoy myself. Just wanted to get that out I’m fine)
