Where can I learn a bit about alchol?

I just want to have a clear idea on how it works, my aunt and uncle for some reason decided to give us a d’amore 12 aged whiskey and a rakja from serbia, pretty sure they’re high grade aswell.

Btw i’m not asking what those are, but where i could get a general idea of alchol and it’s groups
