different alcohol = different effects?

hi everyone! any input, personal advice or suggestions would be amazing!!

i have been drinking since i was 15ish (crazy i know but normal in england), im now 23, i used to drink a bit of everything when i was younger (malibu, vodka, premade cocktail cans, dragon soop, cider, jager) and would have a specific drink for a while and then move onto a different one when i was bored of it, i was able to begin drinking at around 6pm and stay out till 6am sometimes even later,

however, in the past year or so as ive gotten older ive become less and less able to stay up or out on the weekly/fortnightly occurrence i go out with friends, this has been a lot more prominent this past 6 months, i always want to leave and go home by maybe 12am latest 2am because my energy levels and social battery are so low, and i just want to go to sleep. originally i put this down to getting older, not enjoying going out anymore and swapping my shift pattern a year ago from 4pm-11pm to 6am-2pm.

because malibu is tasty, cheaper and a lower percentage ive had this as my go to drink for this 6-12 month period, this month on two occasions ive drank gin and felt really energized and ready to party and stay awake, then i begin on malibu or unbranded coconut white rum and the sleepiness kicks in, so last night i wanted to test this and only drank vodka, i had around 500ml-750ml throughout the night and ended up high energy from 10pm when i had my first drink until around 2:30am when my friends suggested sleeping before me (which hasnt happened in YEARS) which leads me to believe that white rum was PART of the problem this whole time (not unaccounting for the age, work, and tolerance for nights out factors as they definitely do play some part)

is there any logical, scientific, or experience based explanation for the white rum being a factor????
