My mom allows me to drink at 18

Hi! I am a 18 year old girl in New York for context. My mother allows me to drink at 18. It’s been going on for about 3 months and I’d really would love to hear your guys views on it. I’ll give you some key points to go off of:

My mom allows us because I’m going to college in 3 months and I’ve experessed that drinking is something I am going to be interested in once I go away. So she thinks it’s better for me to know my limits so I don’t end up in compromising situations

I have NEVER gotten black out drunk and am always monitored

At the moment I am not allowed to drink with friends and am only allowed at home or with family with supervision

I’m not drinking every day 😭 I swear

I am not smoking or doing anything else other than drinking

I would love to hear your guys thoughts and maybe start a conversation! Some of my other family members are old school and make a big deal over it😩.
