Suddenly feeling drunk

Do other people feel like they’re suddenly very drunk?

When I’m drinking I don’t really (or at all) feel the alcohol until it’s just 1 or 2 drinks before I have slight memory holes or really feel the tipsy feelings. It comes on way (WAY) too suddenly for me, do other people have similar experiences?
