alcohol intolerance?
hi all, apologies if this Is NOT the place to put this post and feel free to direct me elsewhere!
im 24F and never been much of a big drinker. maybe one night a week in college for a party, i was a bartender but really only had one drink a week when at dinner if even that. this past year my alcohol intake has increased slightly, again probably only one or two nights a week having 2-3 drinks/night only on weekends. (this just seems like good context i guess?)
the last few months i started noticing that when i drank, i would be up all night with an upset stomach. my worst fear is throwing up, so usually i would just get really nauseated and sit in the bathroom for hours a night when i drank. at first i just thought it was a one off thing, maybe i didn’t eat enough and it was a mix of that, maybe it was what i was drinking etc. then i started to cut back a little and would have one beer or one hard seltzer at around 3-4 and notice a few hours later my stomach would be in shambles and i would be really sweaty and anxious. i also noticed that if this happened i would have to pee a lot during the night… but i would just sit in the bathroom instead of going back to bed. so really just general dizziness and nausea a couple hours after drinking anything. i was trying to play around with it to see if it was something specific that triggered it, but it seems to be everything. occasionally i’ve had one glass of wine and been fine but again im scared to drink because of how awful it feels!
ive now stopped drinking for the time being while i can figure this out because i really hate when my stomach hurts. i really dont think its food related because ive never felt this way after eating anything specific and haven’t really changed anything about the way im eating?
has anyone else dealt with this and do you think it’s an alcohol intolerance, or something else? it sucks because i really enjoy having a fun cocktail or beer if out to dinner. hoping there is a solution here 🙁 thanks in advance sorry this got long
