Help to learn alcohol
Hey people so I’m a complete newbie at alcohol and recently I’ve started to drink because it’s part of the UK culture and plus for socialising in university and career it is quite beneficial. I want to start exploring the whole alcohol universe even more than what I have so far, but I want to do it systematically. Because I have heard horror stories of people trying something new and ending up dumping the whole thing or vomitting. But also because I want advice as to how to approach this entire realm cuz I never have had anyone to explain it to me in my life. The etiquettes, the orders, nicknames, what to get in what occasion, etc etc.
So far i do have some very basic etiquette knowledge such as you cheers by looking into each other’s eyes. And I know for different occasions you have different alcohols. For example if ur outside in a sunny day you get a beer, or in a sports event. But apart from that level of basics idk much.
So far my favourite drinks are these: Beer: Budweiser / Desperados Whiskey: Jack Daniel’s and Coke Cocktail: Mojito (cuz that’s the only one I’ve tried) Wine: White Wine (I hated red wine for its taste)
I’m more keen to explore whiskey because in my career field (law and diplomacy), afaik it’s more common or it’s the norm to have whiskey when dealing in these sorts of things. So far what I’ve felt my overall comfort drink has been JD & C (apparently that’s the slang term for Jack Daniel’s and Coke). Because it’s a really light drink but not too light either. It’s just right and it’s really really smooth. But I do prefer a single cuz that doesn’t affect me much but just lets me enjoy the drink. I did try a double but my head got a little heavy after that so i don’t mind it but not something I’ll always get. Also, I do prefer it over beer because beer I find it a bit hard to consume. What I mean is that I have to take big gulps of it and it’s a lot of quantity which I wish it wasn’t the case. Plus it’s quite bitter and not very enjoyable unless you have something secondary distracting you so not my biggest forte. I don’t mind it, but I think I can do better.
Based on all this, can you guys help me to figure out alcohol?
