Why do I feel so drunk?
Okay, this is a complicated one. I’m going to lay down the facts, then the situation.
I’m female, type one diabetic, have been drinking casually for many years.
Extremely hard to get drunk. I have chronic high blood sugars and the higher my sugars are the easier it is to get drunk. I used to exploit this to the detriment of my health.
In the past 5ish years I’ve become much more stable with my blood sugars and healthier. I don’t drink often and when I do I rarely get drunk.
Recently, I’ve been having many weird symptoms that indicate something besides diabetes is affecting my health. It’s been months and I’ve had many different tests done. I haven’t narrowed anything down with my doctor yet.
My recent blood tests indicate a high chance of lupus or vasculitus. Possibly Lyme or some other autoimmune issues.
Okay. So the situation:
I just had a drink for the first time in months. I mixed a shot of raspberry smirnoff with 710 ml of 7up. This isnt even enough alcohol to feel it normally.
I haven’t even finished my drink and I’m extremely dizzy and light headed. I feel like I do when I’m extremely tipsy. My blood sugars have been fine all day.
Also, I have made this exact drink before with the same bottle of smirnoff.
Does anyone have any ideas what’s causing this reaction/ drunken state that is extremely unusual for me?
Could it be related to my recent health conditions or maybe due to the fact I haven’t drank alcohol in a while?
TLDR: It’s usually very hard for me to get drunk but tonight a very small amount of alcohol has me feeling drunk and I’m very confused.
