How are bottle labels fact checked?

How are specific descriptive tags verified? For example, age statements. How is it verified that a whiskey is aged for a minimum of 12 years if the bottle says so?

Another example – single malt. How is it verified that a whiskey is indeed made up of 100% malted barley, and from a single distillery?

Is there a governing body that fact checks this information?
