Sneezing hours after drinking alcohol

Ever since I’ve started drinking I notice that I always have a really bad sneezing fit many hours after drinking- maybe 6-8 hours after drinking. However, for the most part this doesn’t occur when I take an allergy pill before drinking.

Why does this happen? I’m guessing histamines, but doesn’t that usually happen right away? Also, can this possibly be dangerous?

I have no other allergy symptoms that I imagine would come from eating/drinking something I’m allergic to, like hives. It’s more like a cat allergy where I’ll just sneeze and have a really stuffy nose.
