Looking for whiskey recommendations as a gift for my husband.

We (well, mostly me) are currently 20 weeks pregnant with a baby boy due January 2025. My husband is so ready to be a dad, and has been so incredibly doting through this entire thing so far. I’m endlessly appreciative of having him as my partner through this.

I want to get him a really nice whiskey as a gift to celebrate the birth of our son. I’m planning to save $50 a paycheck from now until a few weeks before birth and think I can get $500 together for it. I’d like for it to be aged 18 years so I can write in the note “Cheers to the next 18 years”.

He likes a good Scotch, but said he prefers whiskey. Bulleit is one he really likes casually. Over the years I have bought him two he really loves at the recommendation of the nice gentlemen at Total Wine: Horse Soldier, and more recently Chestnut Farms Kentucky Straight.

Since the folks at Total Wine have been so on the mark I plan to go back over there for some further recommendations, but thought I’d get some ideas from the fine folks at Reddit too.
