Diagnosed with cancer, trying to stop smoking

Is it okay if I replace it with a beer every weekend? I don’t drink much but doctor told me I really should stop smoking since it makes chemotherapy and cancer worse.

Is this a wise decision? Is alcohol safer than cigarettes when it comes to cancer?
