Weird back pain when laying

I’ll start by saying I’m not a huge drinker. Odd glass during the week, wife and I will share a bottle or two of wine on the weekend.

Had a couple times in the last 6-12 months where we’ve been on holiday and drank more than I usually would and thought this was the cause of this back pain. And while an increase in alcohol may play some part I’ve more recently discovered it is white wine. If I drink more than half a bottle I end up waking up in the middle of the night with intense lower back pain. I’ll toss and turn for an hour or so and eventually force myself to stand up which instantly relieves it. Then I’ll lay back down and struggle again. During the day when I’m up and about it’s not present. It can end up going on for a couple of nights after drinking.

I’ve had ultrasounds to rule out any organ problems, general bloods etc. doctor suggested it could potentially be some form of pancreatitis due to drinking, but from what I’ve read that typically is more abdomen pain.

I’m happy to try and avoid white wine as much as possible but the last time it happened (couple days ago) I forgot all about it.

Anyone else experience the same from specific types of alcohol? Any logical explanation?
