Fast heart rate during hangover. Is it withdrawal?
I’m not a super heavy drinker, but I certainly have a history of alcohol abuse, such as drinking every weekend until I black out, and sometimes having 2-3 beers during the middle of the week. However, in the last few years, I’ve been cutting back on alcohol.
In the last few months, I’ve started noticing some really weird things. Firstly, I’ve been experiencing panic attacks, but I don’t think it’s related to alcohol – more likely because of living in Ukraine – war doesn’t do anything good for health. But even before the panic attacks started, my hangovers have become really strange. For example, last week, I drank about 200-300ml of 40% liquor and didn’t experience any normal symptoms like a headache or stomachache; I felt completely fine.
Even my heart rate in the morning was normal, around 80-90 bpm, even during missile attacks. I was already sober. However, in the afternoon, my heart rate skyrocketed! It reached 120-130 bpm, even after taking benzos, and lasted for 15 hours! I’ve been experiencing this symptom every time I drink for the last 3-5 months. The amount of alcohol consumed just affects how long this tachycardia lasts, but not the heart rate itself.
I’ve had my heart checked and undergone blood tests, and everything is OK…
