Why am I becoming an angry drunk?

I’m sorry if this isn’t the best sub for this. But I’ve noticed my behavior while drunk has changed drastically over the past year.

For some context. Last year I (22m) was a big party person I’d go out every week sometimes multiple times a week getting drunk very often. However I never showed any aggressive behavior, I was never mean or ran off. Just typical goofy drunk behavior. More often then not the most concerning thing I’d do is disappear for 30 minutes to buy food and come back to sleep immediately after.

Since last June I’ve cut back significantly on my drinking, mostly due to focusing more on school, work, and a relationship I was previously in. I can probably count the amount of times I’ve drank since then on one hand. But I’ve noticed the last few times I have I became a very aggressive person. The first time started in November I got way to drunk and got rejected from the bar leading me to just push my friend who was trying to help me and sprinted away from everyone. I’ve never been a runner and even when they caught up to me I still tried to shove them away. The second was a month ago at a friends party; I wanted to get some air and go for a walk and. When they questioned where I was going, which was a valid thing to do, I got very defensive said some mean things and left for the walk. The third time was was very similar to the second in which at the very end of a night out we were trying to figure out how to get home when I suddenly decided I wanted to walk. Now they didn’t want to let me as I wasn’t in a good state and also it was a fairly long walking distance; long story short my friend tried to restrain me so I wouldn’t walk off I pushed him away, said some rude things, and walked off.

I’m genuinely concerned and I’m not sure where this behavior is coming from. Any advice would be appreciated.

TLDR; I went from a calm to very aggressive/mean drunk and I’m not sure why but want to fix it.
