Instantly sober

I understand this might not be the right subreddit. But a genuine question I have is why is it when sometimes when I drink, I can have a good buzz going but then I become instantly sober. After that it doesn’t matter how much I drink, I can no longer get drunk for the night. Has anyone experienced something similar?
