I’m an ex Muslim and want to finally try alcohol. Please give me some suggestions!

Basically the title. My parents are British and converted to Islam when I was younger so I’ve never known much about alcohol but the drinking culture in Britain is amazing and I really want to join in. Wasn’t ever religious and I’m deciding to finally try alcohol! What’s good? What should I avoid starting out?
