Going to a bar for my birthday this weekend, should I pregame at my apartment?

I live very close to this bar so I’m just going to walk there and then back. I was thinking of having some drinks and my place before going down there so I don’t spend much and I can enjoy myself without the loud ass atmosphere for a few hours before hitting the bar. I’m also going with some friends.

Is this a good idea? How should I pregame? Liquor or beer? Idk.
