Do you prefer gin or vodka for martinis?

If it’s a traditional dirty martini with regular olives, I’ll definitely take it with gin.

If it’s a blue cheese olive martini, however, I usually order that with vodka, and this is my favorite drink at a steakhouse along with appetizers of French onion soup and a wedge salad before I have a ribeye.

I notice too where I live in the USA that speciality martinis are all the rage with gimmicky flavors and such. I assume these are all made with vodka, and my only consistently-preferred of these specialty martinis is the espresso martini for caffeine when Red Bull would be too gaudy.

The one other thing I’ll say is that as a clumsy person I dislike martini glasses and sometimes order my martini in a normal glass so I’m not constantly spilling booze on myself.
