Tired of blacking out, how do I increase my alcohol absorption?
I (22M, 6’3″) have been dealing with blacking out for a while now and it causes me so much anxiety when I can’t remember the night since I’m worried about what I’ve done when drunk, thankfully its never anything bad.
I think my issue is that my body absorbs alcohol extremely slowly, for example, I went to a party a couple of days ago and I was drinking my usual vodka drink, everyone else were drinking seltzers, I was already like 6 shots in of vodka from cocktails in and I still hadn’t felt anything, but the thing is that this was over the course of 3 hours, since we had started at 2pm, by 5pm I was still sober, so I just continued drinking as normal.
After which my body absorbed all the alcohol at once and I blacked out at around 6-7pm, and I remained blacked out until 12am even though I apparently stopped drinking (though I think in total I had 10 shots) and just drank water, I was also not so messy that people could tell that I was drunk as they were surprised to hear that I was blacked out the night before so I’m relatively functional, I didn’t puke, and I didn’t have a hangover the morning after either.
My friends can start to feel the effects of alcohol so so much quicker than me, like less than an hour so they’re able to know when to stop drinking and regulate themselves, but I literally go from Sober to Black out, there’s no in-between, even if I try to drink slowly it’ll still take my body 3 hours or more to absorb alcohol.
And this is irregardless of food, I’ve done tests of how fast it takes me to feel the effects of alcohol with food and without food but it doesn’t seem to make any big difference in making me feel the effects faster.
So how the hell can I make my body feel alcohol faster so that I can know how to regulate, because since It takes me so long to absorb it, drinking too little will mean I’ll remain sober for much longer compared to everyone else and too much and I’ll instantly black out.
I’ve heard of people who have “genetically lazy livers” so they have perfectly stable liver enzymes but they don’t process toxins as fast as most people. Maybe this is my issue?
