Thoughts on buying vs making your own syrups?

I’ve bought simple syrup in the past, but I started making my own and will continue to considering it’s so easy/fast. What are your thoughts on buying vs making your own flavored syrups? I’ve tried a few of the mini Monin floral syrups (just to test them out) and enjoyed them in cocktails. I’m considering buying more from Monin or from Liber&Co considering they have such a long shelf life, whereas if I make my own, they won’t likely last more than a few weeks. Is it worth making my own though? Will they taste much better? Will I save more? And are there ways to preserve them for much longer (I’m guessing 2:1 rich syrup)?
