Trying to find a sipping liquor

A little back story, when I was younger I drank a bit too much whiskey and got pretty sick. I’ve tried a few whiskeys since (15 years later) and I can taste difference between them but the same whiskey taste is always there and it turns me off because I got sick on it previously.

So far I’ve tried glenmoragie 10, monkey shoulder, and Elijah Craig small batch.

Am I destined to hate whiskey regardless of what it is?

What other liquors would you recommend that are great for neat pours and sipping?
