Review: Guinness 0 Non-Alcoholic Draught
Widely considered one of the best non-alcoholic beers on the market, Guinness 0 has a cult following with good reason: It’s made through the same methods and with the same ingredients as standard Guinness, only it culminates with the alcohol being removed through a “cold filtration method,” which I don’t pretend to understand at all. Regardless of the tech behind it, the results and the authenticity speak for themselves. The 14.9-oz cans even utilize the same nitrogen “widget” that standard Guinness cans use.
Tasting this blind, you might be convinced that it’s regular Guinness, though your first sips may feel a bit on the thin side. But aside from that lightness of body, the classic flavors are really the same: Malty, well-toasted grains, dark chocolate, some coffee ground notes, and a little honeyed sweetness. Finally, a boutch of cherries in syrup on the finish. While not exactly massive in body, it’s still chewy enough to dig your teeth into, and after you’ve worked your way through half the can, you may well forget about the lack of alcohol in it. I don’t know, I may even prefer it to standard Guinness from a can.
Aka Guinness 0.0.
