What alcohols go well in sweet, summery drinks?
Hi,
What alcohols would go well in sweet, summery drinks?
I am ‘catering’ a party on July 4th. Family and friends, I’m not a professional, I just mix non-alcoholic drinks as a hobby, from mocktails to Italian sodas to frappes and lattes to lemonades and agua frescas. I’m not getting paid for this, and it’s not a professional gig, basically a gift to the host. No one is under the impression we are having professional drink catering, very casual thing.
I was wondering what kind of alcohol I should buy to add a shot[?] to whatever drink the guests would like? For example, adding a shot[?] of tequila to a glass of lemonade with a muddled cherry at the bottom. Make it so the adults can have a little fun, without getting absolutely drunk. As I said earlier, most of these drinks are light, cold, and generally fruity, though I will be providing cold coffee drinks as well. Also I’ll be getting some margarita mix and salt, nothing overly fancy, but for the summer fun, you know?
The host recommended I get some tequila and vodka, but they’re not exactly huge into alcohol. I, unfortunately, am lethally allergic to alcohol [as long as I don’t drink it I’m fine, and I’ve already made preparations for my own safety], so I can’t test anything and have to go off of others knowledge and responses.
As for how much alcohol to put in the drinks, I was figuring to only put 1 oz into each drink, maybe even just .5 oz, as these aren’t huge drinks [I am having a large variety, so the plan is to have many small cups so the guests can try multiple different drinks. This also avoids me having to find a way to chill many glass cups, as the drinks are not meant to be ‘held’ for very long, so they shouldn’t get too warmed up before they’re going for something else.] The point is to just have a little bit of fun, not to get drunk, as I do not feel comfortable around people who are completely inebriated.
Any advice would be massively appreciated!
