Why do I always get alcohol poisoning before getting to the point where I’d be blackout drunk?

Not sure if alcohol poisoning is the right word because there’s no other symptoms, but I’ll throw up like every hour and be unable to keep even just water down. It usually lasts for 1-2 days and I’ve gotten close to going to the ER multiple times due to dehydration. My question is could my body have some sort of intolerance to where it can’t digest alcohol well? If I drink a moderate amount I can handle it and feel totally fine after I sober up, but if I try to get good and drunk to the point where I can’t walk perfectly straight or wouldn’t remember anything the next day, I get sick every time. I’ve gotten a better grasp on my limits now, but whenever I hear people talking about being blackout drunk it baffles me how they can get to that point without making themselves violently ill for a day or two? I don’t WANT to get blackout drunk but I just wonder what makes me unable to get close to that point while it seems to be common for others. I make an effort to drink just as much water as I do alcohol (or even more) before anyone asks. Full or empty stomach makes no difference either.
