Review: Big Dick’s Banana Whiskey

Listen, I love innuendo as much — or more than — anyone. But Big Dick’s Banana Whiskey? Now we’re really pushing things, no?

Big Dick’s Banana Whiskey comes from ISCO, best known for selling a pizza vodka and oyster flavored vodka, It’s sold only in 100ml pocket bottles, and virtually no information about the product is available, except that it is built on top of a bourbon base, is all natural, and is bottled in Rhode Island. At 40% abv, it’s surprisingly bottled at full strength.

Big Dick’s Banana Whiskey Review

On the nose, Big Dick’s as arguably heavier on the whiskey than the banana, and that feels intentional. A youthful, frontier-like character throws off notes of dried grass and leather, with tobacco and clove emerging. The banana character is hard to miss, but on the nose it’s got a definite flambeed vibe, landing somewhere between caramelized and dried banana chips.

The palate is a lot sweeter and fruitier than the nose lets on, and for a moment it really does taste like a bite of ripe, fresh banana. Moderate sweetness helps here — there’s clearly some sugar, but it’s not over the top — and as it sits on the tongue the whiskey winds its way closer to something candylike — Banana Runts, melted banana ice cream. A surprising note of chocolate on the finish is wholly welcome, complementing the fruit with a creamier conclusion. On the whole, it’s surprisingly cohesive and even refreshing at times.

The 100ml presentation begs the question of how Big Dick’s is intended to be used — sort of a double-shot bottle that you can share with a friend, perhaps. Better yet, drink half, fill the empty space with Fireball, and then share that with a friend. Yeah, that’s the ticket.
