Why does whiskey taste like shit and how do I “grow” used to it
So, im 18 and 4 months old, I tried sneaking some whiskey out of my dad’s collection, I see a 30 year aged whiskey and I was like ooo lemme try some of this (bc yknow generally the older something is aged the better it tastes), so i was like hell yeah, poured myself a shot and I drank it, tastes like pure alcohol. Like that taste(its a very specific taste and it tastes like straight tequila(pure alcohol type shit)), and i could not wash that taste out of my mouth, like the after taste sucked, I was gagging for so long. Anyway, next I try some old sake definitely old bc the brand is discontinued, anyway I try it, Auuughhh tastes even more shittier than the whiskey, how do people drink this shit, like people drink this on a daily basis and say “ooo that tastes very good i can taste every depth of the very flavour curressing my tongue” or some shit. How do I grow into it? How do I get used to the flavour? Also beer tastes like shit to me(im a very sweet cocktail liking guy)
