Review: Lawson’s Finest Liquids Hop Wired
I’ll be honest: It’s becoming a little difficult to distinguish some of Vermont’s Lawson’s Finest Liquids releases form one another. The operation, which focuses heavily on high abv IPAs, recently dropped Hop Wired, a hazy IPA made with a blend of El Dorado, Simcoe, Citra, and Cascade hops. If those sound familiar, it’s because they’re some of the most popular hops when it comes to IPA dosing.
Hop Wired drinks a lot like some of Lawson’s most classic beers, though its abv is slightly restrained in comparison to brews like Sip of Sunshine. A big, chewy body leads to a gently earthy character which resonates with fresh mango, orange peel, grains of paradise, and an undulating layer of tobacco and more bitter hops. Lawson’s releases often feature a slightly brooding quality, and Hop Wired is no exception, with a layer of greenery and hemp rope clinging to the back end, perhaps with some grated lemon rind lingering. Ultimately, if you like any of Lawson’s production, you should gravitate fully to this expression.
6.8% abv.
