Dr. told me I could die if I stopped drinking
So, about a year ago I went to my Dr for stomach issues. I was honest in my form and filled in sometimes I have 9 beers, sometimes I have none.
Dr came in and immediately started asking about my drinking habits.
I said, some days I’ll down about 9 beers, go for a few days with no beers, have a few, then maybe 9 again… if I’m watching sports all day 9 could become more. (4% alcohol beer mind you)
She told me people die this way, and I should never go from a day of having 9 beers to no beers. She backed this up with a story of a patient who dropped dead from not drinking.
This terrified me. I went from having what I considered to be a probable drinking “like” during sporting events, to “if I stop drinking, I’m going to die” and now at my Dr’s advice have become a person who drinks every day because I’m afraid I’m going to die if I don’t, because that’s what my Dr. told me.
Has anyone else had this happen? I was perfectly functional and fine before she told me I would die if I kept up my routine. But now I’m sure I will die if I keep up this routine. I was healthier before going to her
