Imbibe 75 Person to Watch: Priyanka Blah
Bengaluru, India
Priyanka Blah started writing about drinks as a way to document her own experiences tasting whiskies. Seeing a gap in the South Asian industry, she turned her focus from internal reflection to something broader. “There was no dedicated platform offering consumers a neutral, unbiased perspective on the drinks landscape,” says Blah, who felt content either skewed too trade or too consumer—nothing struck the right balance.
It inspired Blah to create The Dram Attic in 2015, now a multi-hyphenate platform that offers not just content but strategic guidance for business growth, creative consultancy, content creation, and a mentorship program for hospitality professionals. This year, Blah expanded her reach with the launch of DRIP, a Dubai-based online lifestyle magazine focusing on Asia and the Middle East, for which she’s both co-founder and editorial director.
Despite its global purview, Blah is proudest of what The Dram Attic has done for the South Asian bar community. Through mentoring opportunities, Blah believes it’s instilled a mindset that hospitality is a long-term career, not just a job. Personally, she takes pride in being recognized as a voice for the region. “I’d like to believe I’ve played a small but significant part in being able to tell the region’s story to the world and highlight the wealth of talent we have here,” she says.
In her new role as director of education for Bar Convent Berlin, she hopes to again close gaps in the industry by involving speakers from supporting industries, such as agriculture and tech, to share insights. She also wants to turn the spotlight on the lesser-represented continents. “We would love to see more participation from communities of people who we don’t often see take on the main stage.”
