Stomach cramps after drinking
Tldr: I drank a fuck ton for 4 years, gained and lost a ton of weight, and now my tummy hurts all the time after I drink and I’m pretty sure it’s not hangovers. Need advice pls
I’ve been drinking heavily for the past 4 years (I’m 23). I’m talking almost every if not every night. It started with beers and wine coolers (4-6/night), and once I felt the effects of gaining weight from those I switch to liquor. Liquor was easier, so I was drinking upwards of 6 shots a night. Most of the time I either lost count or wasn’t counting. I drank liquor for about 3 of those years and gained a lot of weight (probably 75-100 lbs but idk how much bc I didn’t weigh myself much). About a year ago and a half ago (I think) I started tapering off somewhat. Back to 4-5 beers a night. Then I took a three week break in September, and went right back to 5-6 beers and then shots. The amount always cranks up over time bc I’ve absolutely shot my tolerance. I also have like very little to no hangovers historically, idk where all that goes.
The past month or so, when I drink, my stomach hurts so bad, especially the next day. Cramps and tough shits, poor appetite, etc. Some foods are really hard to eat, like greasy foods and carbonated beverages, but really anything can give me cramps. It goes away more or less, but I am starting to get worried about it.
I’ll be honest. I love to drink, I don’t want to stop drinking. But I do want to live more and have a life with my partner, so I need to know if this is something that is going to permanently affect me or not. Obviously I will be taking an extended break. I would also like to say I’ve lost probably all of that weight except maybe 5-10 lbs. But is this something I should talk to a doctor about. Is it alcoholic gastritis? Are there home remedies I can do to help treat my ailments? Any advice is appreciated friends
