Review: 2022 B. Wise Pinot Noir Silver Eagle Vineyard
Our first encounter with Brion Wise’s B. Wise brand brings us a Russian River pinot noir, and a delightful one at that. Rich but not overwhelming, the wine’s acidity works well to keep everything in check — tart cherries, ripe raspberries, and supple vanilla coming across in layers across the palate. A gentle earthiness, on brand for Russian River pinot, works its way into prominence as the wine develops in glass, but it never comes across as overly pastoral or dusky — although gentle notes of licorice inform a lengthy and slightly brooding finish. On the contrary, on the whole the wine is a study in depth: bright and sunny, fruity and exuberant, crowd-pleasing and complex. I’d order it off a list in a heartbeat.
