How to not throw up?

So everytime I do shots or mostly just drink in general when I take the shot it hurts my stomach automatically and then for a couple of minutes I am fighting the urge to throw up and I have to try really hard to keep it down. But after a couple minutes my stomach settles and it goes away pretty much completely. So how do I not have this happen?
