Review: Angel’s Envy Cask Strength Bourbon 10 Years Old (2025)
It’s hard to believe, but Angel’s Envy has never put out an age-statemented release before now, and they’re coming out of the gate hard, with a 10 year old version of the long-running Cask Strength Limited Edition Bourbon.. Fans of the brand know that Angel’s Envy puts out a Cask Strength edition each year around holiday time, and this year’s differs namely by the inclusion of the age statement. It’s still Kentucky distillate finished in Port barrels, uncut before bottling. This year’s Distiller’s Collection release hits a hefty 61.3% abv.

Angel’s Envy Cask Strength Bourbon 10 Years Old (2025) Review
The nose offers few surprises in comparison to previous editions of Angel’s Envy Cask Strength — aggressively hot and quite wood-forward, but also clearly fruity thanks to the Port influence. Raisins and Christmas spices are well-evidenced, but tempered by plenty of charry, almost tarry qualities. The rather boozy construction makes teasing out more nuance fruit notes difficult, but with a little water the classic citrus of Angel’s Envy becomes more visible, as does a sweet maple quality.
The palate does not diverge from the theme much at all. While boldly woody, the Port pushes the char aside fairly handily, giving the palate a rich note of well-spiced plum pudding, chocolate sauce, and orange peel. There’s a hint of saline present, which adds some minerality to soften both the wood-driven components and the fruit. I can’t overstate how important water is to the experience with this whiskey, at 122+ proof it’s blazing on the tongue, and untempered it comes across as unbalanced, out of control.
The finish is silky and unctuous, as bittersweet chocolate notes come on strong, along with an echo of sweet black tea. The conclusion is sultry and warming, and it quickly makes clear why Angel’s Envy releases this whiskey at the end of the year. The sweet Port notes and spray of spices make this experience perfect for the holidays.
122.6 proof. Reviewed: Batch #C14.
