Everything being expensive is making me sober and I’m not happy about it.
In the last couple of months, all I’ve had to drink is a large (1.9 L) growler of beer and a couple of pints at a pub. I don’t have a super high income so I have to prioritize spending. Food is so expensive now, and there’s other stuff I might want to buy, so if I’m being rational about priorities, I can’t throw away a ton of money on alcohol. I typically buy up to 2 1.75 L bottles of spirits, but lately I haven’t been able to put the money aside for it.
On the one hand, I guess it’s good that I can turn it down still. So… that box is checked off the ‘healthy relationship with booze’ checklist. But this fucking sucks. I’d normally drink up to a couple of old-fashioned glasses full of ice and then fillled up with rum, so nothing too excessive overall. But lately between needing to spend on other stuff, and lately the strike at liquor stores here, it’s harder to have my regular nightly drink.
Do I sound weird, or have you also had issues putting aside money for booze?
