can you take ouzo as a shot?

i’ve heard mixed things about drinking ouzo as a shot. some say don’t do it because you’ll get a wicked hangover so you should sip it slowly. my greek dance group always does shots before big performances. would it be a bad idea to have one shot before dancing? i don’t really drink much so i’m not really sure what my tolerance is.
