Review: Brook37 Ambrosia Collection Teas
Brook37 is an American tea company founded by female entrepreneur Mou Dasgupta, who travels directly to exclusive tea estates in India to select leaves that the brand says are so rare and coveted that they’re typically sold only at the garden due to demand and scarcity. The production team is also an all-woman team, a rarity in the tea industry. The brand is committed to producing its teas through ethical practices, including direct collaboration with tea growers and a commitment to being plastic neutral, reflecting a sustainable mindset.
You can find both loose-leaf tea options and pyramid tea bags at Brook37. They have sample collections which offer four types of loose-leaf teas in an attractive box with a tea strainer included. Via their website, you can shop by types of tea or collections like their wellness or eco pack bundles.
I had the pleasure of tasting the Ambrosia Collection, which includes samples of four loose-leaf teas.
First was the Sweet Ceylon Spicy Berry, a detox tea with Hibiscus, Coriander, Fennel Seed, Ginger Root, Nettle, Dandelion Root (Raw), Schisandra Berry, Licorice Root, and Cinnamon (Sweet Ceylon). It is a flavorful, well-balanced tea full of aroma and a natural flavor profile. I enjoyed this tea hot with a drop of honey.
Next up was the Floral Mint, a caffeine-free herbal tea blend with Chamomile, Lavender, Rose, Spearmint, Valerian Root, and Passionflower. The aroma is mint-heavy, but the flavor is complex and heartier than expected. Chamomile blends can be tasteless and disappointing. This is a flavorful yet gentle tea that offers a soothing experience. This is a go-to tea for relaxation and healing. I enjoyed his tea prepared hot.
I sampled the third canister, which contained a fragrant Lemon Ginger blend. This was a great morning tea made of Green Tea, Ginger Root, Lemongrass, Lemon Myrtle, Honeybush, Tulsi (Rama), Sage, Moringa, and Licorice Root. I will admit I was concerned about this blend; more often than not, teas that have lemon flavors in them taste like a cleaning product to me. The artificial flavors are off-putting and make it impossible for me to enjoy the tea. Not in this case. Once again, this brand showcases natural flavors and thoughtful blends. I loved the addition of sage in this blend; the sage added a nice earthy anchor to this bouquet. I enjoyed this tea hot with a drop of honey as well as iced without a sweetener. Both preparations were very flavorful.
The sample was the Chocolate Hangover, which is a chocolate spice tea that is low in caffeine. The blend is made of Black Tea, Ashwagandha, Bacopa / Brahmi, Rhodiola Rosea, Chocolate Flavor, Ginger Root, Cinnamon (Sweet Ceylon), Turmeric, Black Pepper, Roasted Cacao shell, and Licorice Root. If you’re a fan of Chai Masala, you will taste some familiar flavors, but this blend is unique to be sure. I sampled this tea black and with a few splashes of milk, and preferred the addition of milk in it. I loved the big bold flavors and the sweet spiciness, and the chocolate flavor was in perfect concert and balance, making this blend a stand out. This was my favorite of the bunch.
Overall, these tea blends are well executed and have authentic and natural flavors. If you’re a tea lover, exploring these tea blends is a joy. And for the tea lover in your life, there are many other gift options to explore at Brook37.
