Why do people like alcohol?

Speaking as a person who can’t drink yet, but has drank a bit of alcohol around 4 times now (only sips of half gulps), why do people like alcohol? I certainly don’t think it’s because of taste, (at least not the basic beers, I could totally understand fruity tasting drinks), and some people that I know who drink agreed with me on that.

Is it just for how it feels? I’m asking this seriously and actually want to know why, I’m just curious
