Best alcohol for shots?

Me and my friends will be going to the beach and plan on getting drunk. We got stuff to make drinks but some of us also want some shots, what would be the best? I was thinking tequila but it’s impractical to bring salt lime and a cutting board to the beach with us…

Only requirement is that it shouldn’t feel like a punch in the mouth even when chilled
