Would I maybe like Cognac?

Im 25 and Ive really never been an alcoholic person. I’ll have a beer every once in a while but I dont exactly love it, its more for being social if Im with friends. Ive tried all types of Whiskey (Irish, Scotch, Bourbon) and just thought they tasted like a musty basement. But seeing as I dont know much about this stuff, I didnt know if thats because its aged in wooden barrels or if its just because its distilled from grains. Ive considered trying Cognac, most likely just Hennessey VS as its not too expensive. Does it have that same woody, musty flavor or is it more sweet since its made from grapes?
