Girlfriend wants me to not drink at all because of abusive alcoholic father

Hello all I have a really good government job and have had just or or 3 drinks per month and have had no trouble or due ever but my gf wants me to not drink at all because of her past trauma with her dad and alcohol is this something I should consider under her arm and give up entirely or give in to ourselves any thou g hts?
