Review: Deep Eddy Pineapple Vodka

Austin’s Deep Eddy Vodka recently launched its latest flavored expression — pineapple, which is perennially one of my favorite flavored vodka offerings, no matter who the maker is.

Made with real pineapple juice, the expression is a cloudy yellow in color that looks like it may as well be pineapple juice — and it smells like it, too. It’s refreshing and citrusy, perfectly tropical and unadulterated on its expressive and sweet nose. It’s not until you take a sip that any vodka-ness becomes evident, the palate melding the expected juicy fruit notes with the bite of the underlying vodka, an unremarkable punchiness that adds a light hospital note to what otherwise comes across as a full-on fruit bomb.

Admittedly, I’ve rarely met a pineapple vodka I didn’t really like, and Deep Eddy’s is no exception. Why not follow their advice by hollowing out a pineapple, jamming a spigot into it, and filling it with this stuff (and lots of ice). Instant party.

70 proof.
