how to enjoy alcohol

i have tried drinking light beers and the taste is good but they dont have any effect for me. i have tried drinking whiskey to see if that has any effect but it tastes like im drinking hand sanitizer. have to force myself to chug it and i still didn’t feel anything afterwards. i am a 5’6, 120lb male so it should be easy to get an effect so i am kind of confused.
