Built a site that creates themed cocktails for any movie/TV show – some results are surprisingly good
Hey r/alcohol! Made something I thought you might find interesting (or at least amusing).
ScreenSips.com generates themed cocktail recipes based on whatever movie or TV show you throw at it. Started as a drinking game generator but the cocktail side turned out way more creative than expected.
Some solid recipes it’s created:
Mad Men – “Madison Avenue”
2 oz rye whiskey, 0.5 oz sweet vermouth, dash of orange bitters, cherry garnish
Basically a perfect Manhattan variation
Stranger Things – “Upside Down”
Layered drink: grenadine base, rum and pineapple middle, dark rum float
The visual effect is actually pretty cool
The Great Gatsby – “West Egg Fizz”
Gin, elderflower liqueur, champagne, lemon twist
Definitely fits the 1920s vibe
The weird part: It somehow knows what flavors match the mood. Horror movies get dark, smoky drinks. Comedies get bright, fruity ones. Period pieces get historically appropriate ingredients.
Fair warning: Not every recipe is a winner. The “Teletubbies” cocktail was… colorful but questionable. And anything Quentin Tarantino-related comes out dangerously strong.
Curious if you think any of these recipes are actually worth mixing up.
ScreenSips.com if you want to test it with your favorite shows/movies.
What movie would make the most interesting cocktail theme?
