Alcohol flush reaction? But it depends on the type of alcohol?
So, I seem to get the Alcohol Flush Reaction (or Asian Flush), but it only seems to happen when having certain drinks like coolers, wine, or liqueurs. My face turns red, and I get red blotches on my arms and chest which feel hot, also sometimes breathing feels heavier.
From what I’ve read, it means you’re having an allergic to alcohol?
The thing is, I never get this reaction from beer or spirits. Even when having equivalent or more amounts of spirits like scotch, vodka, rum, or tequila, I don’t have any effects. As well the next morning I feel fine after drinking spirits, whereas just a little bit of wine or coolers can make me feel groggy the next day.
So I was wondering if it’s maybe not just the alcohol, but maybe something to do with the sugars as well that causes the reaction for me? I can’t seem to find anything online regarding the reaction linked to specific drink types.
