Why can’t I get alcohol shipped into Michigan?

I have tried a few times to order alcohol online, sometimes it works and I can get the an absolutely obscure liquor sent to me from a site and sometimes it just shuts me down mid order (usually when I add my address.) I was able to get an apricot liquor that originated in Austria, sent from California but then try a gin that originated in England, same site says it can’t ship to my home state… What’s the deal?
